The Great Outdoors

I am one who LOVES technology and the conveniences of a modern lifestyle. Two of my favorite posessions are my MacBook and iPhone. They make life easier and more fun. =) However, going out of range and away from chargers was absolutely refreshing last week. I spent seven days camping in the Sierras, on the backside of Yosemite. Fresh air, a running creek, lots of trees, a campfire, the warm sun, and simple family times were such a delightful change from the usual routine. It took a good three days to adjust and truly appreciate my surroundings, but this trip out of "the norm" was deeply nurturing in many ways. So many things about the trip stand out.   Playing with the kids brought out my inner child. Seeing my son catch his first fish was absolutely amazing (please note it was the biggest one of the day, of course). Hanging out with my mom and dancing to "I'm Too Sexy" was a blast. Taking a Great Break!

When you work hard, it is essential to take breaks. Breaking up activity is not only beneficial be cause its fun, but it also allows more focus and energy when you get back to work. Cycling periods of work and rest is the best way to not only accomplish a lot but also love doing it. During your breaks, do what you love. Rotate them based on how you feel at that time. Some may be playing a favorite game, resting, reading a book, going for a walk, watching a treasured show, etc. Whatever you enjoy doing that is relaxing and/or fun. My Favorites of the Moment I am always into one game or another. Lately my favorites are teaching AJ an old school classic like “The Game of Life” or cards, the Wii Game Animal Crossing City Folk , or an iPhone game by Electronic Arts.
